Replacing the exhaust filter

  1. Pull out the exhaust filter.

Replacing the pick, feed, and separator rollers

The printer rollers are shown.

Note:  You can use the rollers stored in the compartment inside the standard trays. For more information, see Storing the rollers .

  1. Turn off the printer.

    The printer is turned off.

  2. Remove all trays.

    • Standard tray

      The standard tray is removed.

    • Optional 2 x 500- or 2500-sheet tray

      Note:  To remove the optional 2 x 500-sheet tray, follow the procedure in removing the standard tray.
      The optional 2500-sheet tray is removed.

  3. Open door C. Make sure that it does not hit any cable attached to the printer.

    Note:  If the 3000-sheet tray is installed, slide the tray to open the door.
    Door C is opened.

  4. Open door D.

    Notes:

    • You can only open door D if the optional 2 x 500- or 2500-sheet tray is installed.
    • If the 3000-sheet tray is installed, slide the tray to open the door.
    Door D is opened.

  5. Locate the rollers.

    The printer rollers and their locations.

  6. Remove the rollers.

    The printer rollers are removed.

  7. Insert the new rollers until they click into place.

    The printer rollers are inserted.
    Note:  Make sure to insert the rollers to their right places.

  8. Close doors C and D.

  9. Insert the trays.

Replacing the transfer module

Note:  Use the screwdriver located inside the bottom front door of the printer.
Location of the screwdriver

  1. Turn off the printer.

    Printer is turned off.

  2. Open door C. Make sure that it does not hit any cable attached to the printer.

    hot surface caution icon   CAUTION—HOT SURFACE:  The inside of the printer might be hot. To reduce the risk of injury from a hot component, allow the surface to cool before touching it.
    Open door C. Make sure that it does not hit any cable attached to the printer.
    Note:  If the 3000-sheet tray is installed, then slide the tray to the right to open the door.

  3. Remove the door stopper.

    Door stopper is removed.

  4. Loosen the screws of the transfer module lock.

  5. Remove the paper guide.

    Paper guide is removed.

  6. Lift the transfer module using the handles, and then pull it out completely.

    Transfer module is removed.

  7. Unpack the new transfer module.

    Warning—Potential Damage:  Do not expose the transfer belt to direct light for more than 10 minutes. Extended exposure to light may cause print quality problems.
    Warning—Potential Damage:  Do not touch the transfer belt. Doing so may affect the print quality of future print jobs.
    Transfer module is unpacked.

  8. Insert the new transfer module until it clicks into place.

    New transfer module is installed.

  9. Place the paper guide back into place.

  10. Tighten the screws of the transfer module lock.

  11. Reinstall the door stopper.

  12. Close door C.

Replacing the transfer roller

  1. Open door C. Make sure that it does not hit any cable attached to the printer.

    Note:  If the 3000-sheet tray is installed, then slide the tray to the right to open the door.
    Door C is opened.

  2. Pull out the transfer roller.

    The transfer roller is removed.

  3. Unpack the new transfer roller.

  4. Insert the new transfer roller until it clicks into place.

    The new transfer roller is inserted.

  5. Close door C.

Resetting the maintenance counter

  1. Turn off the printer.

  2. From the control panel, hold down 2 and 6 while turning the printer on. Release the buttons when the screen with the progress bar appears.

  3. From the Configuration menu, navigate to:

    Reset Maintenance Counter > Reset 300K Maintenance Kit

  4. Touch Back , and then exit the Configuration menu.

    Note:  The printer performs a power-on reset, and then returns to normal operating mode.
