Printer Update Instructions--V1.5G To update your printer via USB attach: 1) You must be using Microsoft Windows 98SE(TM) or later Operating System to flash code via USB. 2) Connect the printer to the computer with a USB cable if not already so connected. 3) Open a MS DOS(TM) command prompt. Navigate to the directory in which the code files reside and type: "usbutil filename.xyz" and hit enter. Wait for the printer to finish the code download; DO NOT POWER OFF MACHINE WHILE UPDATING CODE. 4) You will need to repeat the process above for both Rip and Engine updates if both are available; update Engine Code first and then Rip Code. Follow the same process above unless otherwise directed for other separate code package updates(i.e. tray, duplex). Wait for the first file to complete resetting the printer to a "Ready" state before repeating the process above for a second file. DO NOT POWER OFF MACHINE WHILE UPDATING CODE. To update your printer via network attach: 1) Download the latest version of printer code to a directory of your choice. 2) Open your Web Browser(Internet Explorer(TM)/Netscape Navigator(TM),etc.) and enter the IP address or Hostname of your printer. This will connect you to the Network Adapter HTTP page. Select 'PRINT'. Use the 'Browse File System' Button to pick the firmware file. You will need to repeat this process above for both Rip and Engine updates if both are available; update Engine Code first and then Rip Code. Follow the same process above unless otherwise directed for other separate code package updates(i.e. tray, duplex). Wait for the first file to complete resetting the printer to a "Ready" state before repeating the process above for a second file. DO NOT POWER OFF MACHINE WHILE UPDATING CODE. If this is unsuccessful go to step 3 below to update over network via ftp. 3) At a printer "READY" state open a MS DOS(TM) command prompt and move to the directory selected in instruction (1). 4) To ftp to the IP address using the MS DOS(TM) command line ftp client: A. Using an FTP Client connect to the printer. Example "ftp: 111.111.111.11" . B. Type “bin” (puts ftp session in binary mode) C. Type “put c:\filename.xyz” (assumes the file is in your root directory). D. DO NOT POWER OFF MACHINE WHILE UPDATING CODE. 5) You will need to repeat the process above for both Rip and Engine updates if both are available; update Engine Code first and then Rip Code. Follow the same process above unless otherwise directed for other separate code package updates(i.e. tray, duplex). Wait for the first file to complete resetting the printer to a "Ready" state before repeating the process above for a second file. DO NOT POWER OFF MACHINE WHILE UPDATING CODE. To update your printer via parallel attach: 1) Download the latest version of printer code to a directory of your choice. 2) At a printer "READY" state open a MS DOS(TM) command line and move to the directory selected in instruction (1). 3) You may copy the file via LPT port (parallel port) with the /b switch Example: “copy filename.xyz lpt1 /b” (assumes you are in the same directory as filename.xyz) 4) DO NOT POWER OFF MACHINE WHILE UPDATING CODE. 5) You will need to repeat the process above for both Rip and Engine updates if both are available; update Engine Code first and then Rip Code. Follow the same process above unless otherwise directed for other separate code package updates(i.e. tray, duplex).
