Paper jam in the standard tray

  1. Open door A.

    hot surface caution icon   CAUTION—HOT SURFACE:  The inside of the printer might be hot. To reduce the risk of injury from a hot component, allow the surface to cool before touching it.
    Door on the left side of the printer is opened.
  2. Remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    Paper jam in the fuser area is removed.
  3. Pull out the standard tray.

    Using the front handle, the tray is pulled out.
  4. Remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    Paper jam in the standard tray is removed.
  5. Insert the tray, and then close door A.

Paper jam in the optional trays

  1. Open door B.

    Door on the left side of the optional tray is opened.
  2. Remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    Paper jam in door B is removed.
  3. Close the door.

  4. Pull out the optional 520-sheet tray or 2000-sheet tandem tray.

    Using the front handle, the tray is pulled out.
  5. Remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    Paper jam in the optional tray is removed.
  6. In tandem trays, pull out handle C, and then open the inner cover.

    Handle C in the tandem tray is pulled out, and the inner cover is opened.
  7. Remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    Paper jam below the inner cover is removed.
  8. Close the cover, and then insert handle C.

  9. Insert the tray.

Paper jam in the multipurpose feeder

Remove the jammed paper.

Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
Jammed paper in the multipurpose feeder is removed.

Paper jam in the 2000-sheet tray

  1. Slide the tray to the left.

    2000-sheet tray is slid away from the printer.
  2. Open door J, and then remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    Paper jam in door J is removed.
  3. Close the door, and then slide the tray back into place.

  4. Pull out the tray insert, and then remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    Using the front handle, the tray is pulled out.
  5. Push the tray insert back into place.

Paper jam in door A

  1. Open door A.

    Door on the left side of the printer is opened.
  2. Remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    Paper jam in the fuser area is removed.
  3. Open door A2, and then remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    Door on the top side of the printer interior is opened, and then the jammed paper is removed.
  4. Lift door A3.

    Door A3 is being lifted.
  5. Remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    Paper jam in the printer door is removed.
  6. Close door A2, and then close door A.

Paper jam in the standard bin

  1. Open door A.

    Door on the left side of the printer is opened.
  2. Open door A2, and then remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    Door A2 is lowered and paper jam is removed.
  3. Close door A2, and then close door A.

  4. Remove the jammed paper from the standard bin.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    Paper jam is removed from the standard bin.

Paper jam in the staple finisher

  1. Open door A.

    hot surface caution icon   CAUTION—HOT SURFACE:  The inside of the printer might be hot. To reduce the risk of injury from a hot component, allow the surface to cool before touching it.
    Door on the left side of the printer is opened.
  2. Open door A2, and then remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    The handle of the door is pushed downward, and then jammed paper is removed.
  3. Close door A2, and then close door A.

  4. Open the finisher top cover, and then remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    The staple finisher cover is lifted, and paper jam is removed.
  5. Close the cover.

  6. Open the finisher front cover, turn the finisher knob, and then remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    The knob in front of the staple finisher is turned clockwise, and jammed paper is removed.
  7. Close the cover.

Paper jam in the staple, hole punch finisher

  1. Open door A.

    Door on the left side of the printer is opened.
  2. Open door A1, and then remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    The handle of the door is pushed downward jammed paper is removed.
  3. Close door A1, and then close door A.

  4. Lift the paper transport cover F, and then remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    The paper transport cover is lifted, and then jammed paper is pulled out.
  5. Close the paper transport cover.

  6. Pull the lever on the staple, hole punch finisher, and then lift the cover.

    Staple, hole punch finisher cover is opened.
  7. Remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    Jammed paper in the staple, hole punch finisher is removed.
  8. Close the finisher cover.

Paper jam in the trifold/Z-fold finisher

  1. Open door A.

    Door on the left side of the printer is opened.
  2. Open door A1, and then remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    The handle of the door is pushed downward, and then jammed paper is removed.
  3. Close door A1, and then close door A.

  4. Lift the paper transport cover F, and then remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    The paper transport cover is lifted, and then jammed paper is pulled out.
  5. Close the cover.

  6. Open the trifold/Z-fold finisher door.

    Trifold/Z-fold finisher door is opened.
  7. Remove the jammed paper from any of the following locations.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    • Handle 2A

      The handle is lifted, and then paper jam is removed.
      Note:  Make sure to return the handle to its original position.
    • Handle 2B

      The handle is pushed to the left, and then paper jam is removed.
      Note:  Make sure to return the handle to its original position.
  8. Pull out the finisher bin.

    The finisher bin is pulled out.
  9. Remove the jammed paper from any of the following locations.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    • Handle 2E

      The handle is moved to the right, and then paper jam is removed.
      Note:  Make sure to return the handle to its original position.
    • Knob 2C

      The knob is turned clockwise, and then paper jam is removed.
    • Handle 2F

      The handle is lifted and paper jam is removed.
      Note:  Make sure to return the handle to its original position.
    • Handle 2G

      The handle is moved to the right, and then paper jam is removed.
      Note:  Make sure to return the handle to its original position.
  10. Push the finisher bin back into place, and then close the trifold/Z-fold finisher door.

  11. Open the booklet finisher door.

    The booklet finisher door is opened.
  12. Remove the jammed paper from any of the following locations.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    • Handle 3A

      The handle is lifted, and then jammed paper is removed.
      Note:  Make sure to return the handle to its original position.
    • Knob 3B

      The knob is turned counter clockwise, and then jammed paper is removed.
    • Handle 3C

      The handle is moved to the left, and then jammed paper is removed.
      Note:  Make sure to return the handle to its original position.
    • Handle 3D

      The handle is moved to the right, and then jammed paper is removed.
      Note:  Make sure to return the handle to its original position.
  13. Pull out the booklet maker.

    Using the handhold, the booklet unit is pulled out of the finisher.
  14. Turn knob 4A, and then remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    The knob is turned clockwise.
  15. Push the booklet maker back into place, and then close the finisher door.

Paper jam in the booklet finisher

  1. Open door A.

  2. Open door A1, and then remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    The handle of the door is pushed downward, and then paper jam is removed.
  3. Close door A1, and then close door A.

  4. Lift the paper transport cover, and then remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    The paper transport cover is lifted, and then jammed paper is pulled out.
  5. Close the cover.

  6. Open the booklet finisher door.

    The booklet finisher door is opened.
  7. Remove the jammed paper from any of the following locations.

    • Handle 3A

      The handle is lifted, and then paper jam in removed.
      Note:  Make sure to return the handle to its original position.
    • Knob 3B

      The knob is turned counter clockwise, and then paper jam is removed.
      Note:  Make sure to return the handle to its original position.
    • Handle 3C

      The handle is moved to the left, and then paper jam is removed.
      Note:  Make sure to return the handle to its original position.
    • Handle 3D

      The handle is moved to the right, and then paper jam is removed.
      Note:  Make sure to return the handle to its original position.
  8. Pull out the booklet maker.

    Using the handhold, the booklet unit is pulled out of the finisher.
  9. Turn knob 4A, and then remove the jammed paper.

    The knob is turned clockwise.
  10. Push the booklet maker back into place, and then close the finisher door.
