Before you begin, make sure that:
Active Adapter is set to Auto. From the control panel, navigate to Settings > Network/Ports > Network Overview > Active Adapter .
The Ethernet cable is not connected to the printer.
From the control panel, navigate to Settings > Network/Ports > Wireless > Setup On Printer Panel > Choose Network .
Select a Wi-Fi network, and then type the network password.
Before you begin, make sure that:
The access point (wireless router) is WPS-certified or WPS-compatible. For more information, see the documentation that came with your access point.
A wireless network adapter is installed in your printer. For more information, see the instructions that came with the adapter.
Active Adapter is set to Auto. From the control panel, navigate to Settings > Network/Ports > Network Overview > Active Adapter .
From the control panel, navigate to Settings > Network/Ports > Wireless > Wi-Fi Protected Setup > Start Push Button Method .
Follow the instructions on the display.
From the control panel, navigate to Settings > Network/Ports > Wireless > Wi-Fi Protected Setup > Start PIN Method .
Copy the eight-digit WPS PIN.
Open a web browser, and then type the IP address of your access point in the address field.

Access the WPS settings. For more information, see the documentation that came with your access point.
Enter the eight-digit PIN, and then save the changes.
Wi-Fi Direct enables Wi-Fi devices to connect directly to each other without using an access point (wireless router).
From the control panel, navigate to Settings > Network/Ports > Wi-Fi Direct .
Configure the settings.
Enable Wi-Fi Direct —Enables the printer to broadcast its own Wi-Fi Direct network.
Wi-Fi Direct Name —Assigns a name for the Wi-Fi Direct network.
Wi-Fi Direct Password —Assigns the password for negotiating the wireless security when using the peer-to-peer connection.
Show Password on Setup Page —Shows the password on the Network Setup Page.
Preferred Channel Number —Assigns the preferred channel of the Wi-Fi Direct network.
Group Owner IP Address —Assigns the IP address of the group owner.
Auto-Accept Push Button Requests —Lets the printer accept connection requests automatically.

Before connecting your mobile device, make sure that Wi-Fi Direct has been configured. For more information, see Configuring Wi-Fi Direct .
From the mobile device, go to the Settings menu.
Enable
Wi-Fi
, and then tap
>
Wi-Fi Direct
.
Select the printer Wi-Fi Direct name.
Confirm the connection on the printer control panel.
From the mobile device, go to the Settings menu.
Tap Wi-Fi , and then select the printer Wi-Fi Direct name.
Enter the Wi-Fi Direct password.
Before connecting your computer, make sure that Wi-Fi Direct has been configured. For more information, see Configuring Wi-Fi Direct .
Open Printers & scanners , and then click Add a printer or scanner .
Click Show Wi-Fi Direct printers , and then select the printer Wi-Fi Direct name.
From the printer display, take note of the eight-digit PIN of the printer.
Enter the PIN on the computer.
Click the wireless icon, and then select the printer Wi-Fi Direct name.
Type the Wi-Fi Direct password.
From the control panel, navigate to Settings > Network/Ports > Network Overview > Active Adapter > Standard Network .
Select Yes to restart the printer.
From the control panel, navigate to Settings > Reports > Network > Network Setup Page .
Check the first section of the page, and confirm that the status is connected.
If the status is not connected, then the LAN drop may be inactive or the network cable may be malfunctioning. Contact your administrator for assistance.
Set the parameters in the printer.
From the control panel, navigate to the menu for the port settings.
Locate the menu for the serial port settings, and then adjust the settings, if necessary.
Apply the changes.
From your computer, open the printers folder, and then select your printer.
Open the printer properties, and then select the COM port from the list.
Set the COM port parameters in Device Manager.
