Paper jam in door A

  1. Open door A.

    The button on the right side of the printer is pushed, and then the door is opened.
  2. Remove the toner cartridge.

    The toner cartridge is pulled out from the printer.
  3. Remove the imaging unit.

    The imaging unit is pulled out of the printer to access the jammed paper.
    Warning—Potential Damage:  Do not expose the imaging unit to direct light for more than 10 minutes. Extended exposure to light may cause print quality problems.
    Warning—Potential Damage:  Do not touch the photoconductor drum. Doing so may affect the quality of future print jobs.

  4. Remove the jammed paper.

    hot surface caution icon   CAUTION—HOT SURFACE:  The inside of the printer might be hot. To reduce the risk of injury from a hot component, allow the surface to cool before touching it.
    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    Jammed paper is pulled out of the door A area.
  5. Insert the imaging unit.

    Note:  Use the arrows inside the printer as guides.
    The imaging unit is inserted into the printer.
  6. Insert the toner cartridge.

    Note:  Use the arrows inside the printer as guides.
    The toner cartridge is inserted.
  7. Close door A.

Paper jam in door B

  1. Open door B.

    hot surface caution icon   CAUTION—HOT SURFACE:  The inside of the printer might be hot. To reduce the risk of injury from a hot component, allow the surface to cool before touching it.
    The rear door of the printer is being opened.
  2. Remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    Jammed paper is pulled out of the fuser area.
  3. Close door B.

Paper jam in the duplex unit

  1. Remove the tray.

    The tray is pulled out of the printer.
  2. Push the duplex unit latch to open the duplex unit.

    The blue latch under the printer is pushed down.
  3. Remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    A jammed paper in the duplex area is pulled out of the printer.
  4. Insert the tray.

Paper jam in trays

  1. Remove the tray.

    Warning—Potential Damage:  To prevent damage from electrostatic discharge, touch any exposed metal frame of the printer before accessing or touching interior areas of the printer.
    The tray is removed completely.
  2. Remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    A jammed paper is pulled out from the duplex area.
  3. Insert the tray.

Paper jam in the multipurpose feeder

  1. Remove paper from the multipurpose feeder.

  2. Remove the jammed paper.

    Note:  Make sure that all paper fragments are removed.
    Jammed paper is pulled out of the multipurpose feeder.
  3. Reload paper, and then adjust the paper guide.
