Upgrading to LDD 4.9

Note: Make sure that LDD version 4.6 or later is installed.
  1. From the System tab in LMC, click Refresh, and then set the status of all servers to offline.

Note: Make sure that all jobs are completed before the server goes offline.
  2. If the database or load balancer is installed on a failover cluster, then do the following:

    1. On the primary node in each cluster, close all unnecessary applications.

Note: Make sure that no applications are using the shared drive where LDD components are installed.
    2. From Failover Cluster Manager, move all cluster resources to the primary node where the LDD components are originally installed.

    3. Stop the cluster service on standby nodes.

Wait for confirmation that the standby nodes are disabled before continuing the upgrade.

    4. Set the status of all Lexmark resources to offline.

  3. From the LDD database and load balancer servers, run the LDD installer, click Update, and then follow the instructions on the screen.

Note: If you are using Microsoft SQL Server database, then do not upgrade the database component.
  4. If the database or load balancer is installed on a failover cluster, then do the following:

    1. From Failover Cluster Manager, set the status of all Lexmark resources to online.

    2. On the primary node of each cluster, run the LexmarkSolutionsClusterConfigScript.vbs script from the Install\Cluster_Config_Script folder of the LDD installation package. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Note: During an upgrade, the clustering script may fail the first time it is run. Run the script a second time.
    3. Make sure that the Lexmark cluster resources are started.

    4. Start the cluster service on standby nodes.

  5. In all LDD servers, run the LDD installer, click Update, and then follow the instructions on the screen.

  6. Reinstall custom components on the servers.

  7. Reinstall all previously installed solutions, including those solutions that were automatically added during a previous installation.

  8. Make sure that device groups, software client groups, solutions, and all settings are correct.

  9. From the System tab in LMC, set all servers online.
