1. OVERVIEW

    This Readme file pertains to the current release of the LEXMARK DOWNTIME
    ASSISTANT application.

    Lexmark Downtime Assistant is an embedded solution that can be installed
    on printers that support the Lexmark Embedded Solutions Framework (eSF)
    v3.x or v4.x. The application retrieves files from a network share or FTP
    destination, as well as prints jobs coming in through port 9444 and stores
    them on the printer hard disk. The application updates the files on the
    printer at a configurable rate to ensure the files are up-to-date. This
    feature allows users to select and print the latest versions of these 
    files without network access.

3. REQUIREMENTS

    a. A printer that supports eSF v3.x applications.

        Supported eSF v3.x printers include:

    b. Memory: The printer must have a minimum of 256MB RAM.


    c. Hard disk: The printer must have a hard disk.


    d. License: This application requires an electronic license. To obtain a
                license, go to www.lexmark.com, and then click "Contact Us"
                at the bottom of the page.


4. LIMITATIONS AND COMPATIBILITY OF THE RELEASE

    a. If the application is writing files to the hard disk, then users
       may be unable to launch the application at the printer or access
       Downtime Assistant Web Retrieval. Users must wait and try again later.

    b. If an error occurs while updating the network share or FTP report 
       folders, then no error message appears.

    c. A maximum of 300 files can be viewed on the printer control panel.

    d. Depending on the number of reports and the frequency of the sync
       interval, prolonged use of the printer without restarting may increase
       memory consumption, which can affect performance.
   
    e. Remove non-existent feature will not work if update interval is set to 
       "never".


5. RELEASE NOTES

	*  Removed 50 files prompt for folders with more than 50 files.
	*  Added email notification settings for failed connection attempts to source folder address.
    *  Added %location% variable that is replaced with the device location info.
    *  Added ordinal position setting to sort source report folders.
    *  Added remove non-existent setting to delete non-existent files on the next update interval.
    *  Resets expiration timer when update interval fails.
    *  Bug fixes.
