Remote asset managers

The Fleet Tracker supports the following remote asset manager data collectors:

Note: When using the Embedded Lexmark Remote Asset Manager, we recommend discovering and collecting only up to 100 devices. Rolling up more than 100 devices shows a message with the data collector status.

Provisioning the data collector

Note: When installing the Embedded Lexmark Remote Asset Manager on a group or client, make sure that:
  1. From the Fleet Tracker web page, click Fleet Tracker.

  2. In the Groups pane, select a client or site location.

  3. Click Data Collectors > New.

  4. From the General Information tab, type the name of the data collector, and then specify the contact details.

  5. If necessary, enable privacy from the Settings tab.

    Note: This setting prevents the data collector from sending sensitive information, such as IP address, MAC address, contact name, and contact location.
  6. Click Create.

  7. Note the enrollment code or send it as e-mail.

    Note: Use the enrollment code to configure the rollup settings on remote asset manager data collectors. For more information, see the Lexmark Remote Asset Manager Administrator’s Guide or the Embedded Lexmark Remote Asset Manager Administrator's Guide.

E-mailing the enrollment code

  1. From the Fleet Tracker web page, click Fleet Tracker.

  2. In the Groups pane, select a client that contains either of the following data collectors:

    • Lexmark Remote Asset Manager

    • Embedded Lexmark Remote Asset Manager

  3. Click Data Collectors, then locate the data collector, and click Provisioned in the Status column.

  4. Click Send as Email.

  5. In the E-mail Enrollment Code dialog box, do any of the following:

    • In the Find Users field, type the name of a user that has an e-mail address registered in the Fleet Tracker.

    • In the Other Recipients field, type one or more e-mail addresses. Use a semicolon to separate multiple e-mail addresses.

  6. Click Send.

Reprovisioning the data collector

  1. From the Fleet Tracker web page, click Fleet Tracker > Data Collectors.

  2. Locate the data collector, and then click Uninstalled or Unenrolled in the Status column.

  3. Expand Environment to check the last enrollment details.

  4. Note the enrollment code or send it as e-mail.

    Note: Use the enrollment code to configure the rollup settings on remote asset manager data collectors. For more information, see the Lexmark Remote Asset Manager Administrator’s Guide or the Embedded Lexmark Remote Asset Manager Administrator's Guide.

Importing data

Before you begin, make sure that:

  1. From the Fleet Tracker web page, click Fleet Tracker.

  2. In the Groups pane, click All Groups.

  3. Click Data Collectors > Import Data.

  4. In the Import Remote Asset Manager Data dialog box, browse to the JSON file.

  5. Click Import.

  6. When the validation is complete, click Yes to continue.

  7. When the upload is complete, click Close.

Editing the remote asset manager data collector settings

To enable this feature, make sure that:

Note: The edit option is unavailable when multiple data collectors of different types from the same group or from different groups are selected. You can edit multiple data collectors of the same type from different groups or clients, but some fields may not be available.
  1. From the Fleet Tracker web page, click Fleet Tracker.

  2. In the Groups pane, select a group or client.

  3. Click Data Collectors, select a data collector, and then click Edit.

  4. From the General Information tab, update the information.

  5. From the Remote Asset Manager tab, do any of the following:

    Note: Only super administrators can edit all the settings. Administrators can edit only the Enable Auto Update and the LPMA Aggregator settings.
    Update the device support automatically

    From the Device Support Update section, select Enable Auto Update.

    Prevent the data collector from sending sensitive information

    From the Hide Confidential Information section, select Enable Privacy.

    Note: Sensitive information includes printer DNS host name, IP address, MAC address, contact name, and contact location.
    Aggregate Lexmark Print Management Agent

    Create a single point of communication to the Fleet Tracker server for all Local Printer Management Agent using the Lexmark Remote Asset Manager.

    Note: This feature is available only on Lexmark Remote Asset Manager.

    From the LPMA Aggregator section, select Enable LPMA Aggregation

    Notes:

    • Make sure that the Lexmark Remote Asset Manager server address is set in the Local Printer Management Agent configuration file. For more information, see the Local Printer Management Agent Administrator’s Guide.
    • Lexmark Remote Asset Manager starts collecting rolled up data and sending them to the Fleet Tracker server every hour automatically. For more information, see the Lexmark Remote Asset Manager Administrator’s Guide.
    Configure the log levels
    1. From the Log Level section, set the log level.

      Note: This feature is available only on Lexmark Remote Asset Manager.
    2. Specify the job poll interval in minutes.

      Note: The job poll interval must range from 5 to 60 minutes. The default value is 15 minutes.
  6. Click Save.

Checking the LPMA Aggregation

Note: This feature is available only on Lexmark Remote Asset Manager.
  1. From the Fleet Tracker web page, click Fleet Tracker.

  2. In the Groups pane, select a group or client.

  3. Click Data Collectors.

  4. Check the following columns:

    • From the Aggregation Enabled column, the value Yes appears.

    • From the Rollup Host, the value name:host appears, where name is the Lexmark Remote Asset Manager name and host is the host of the Lexmark Remote Asset Manager. For example, myserver:myhost.

Accessing the asset manager information

To enable this feature, make sure that:

  1. From the Fleet Tracker web page, click Fleet Tracker.

  2. In the Groups pane, select a client that contains a remote asset manager data collector.

  3. Click Data Collectors, and then click the status of the data collector.

  4. In the Asset Manager Information window, do any of the following:

    Note: Only super administrators can access all tabs. Administrators can access only the Remote Asset Manager Environment and the Task Details tabs.
    • From the Remote Asset Manager Environment tab, view the data collector information.

    • From the Task Details tab, view the list of tasks and their details created in the last 30 days. Information is shown in the Schedule column only when the task status is Undelivered.

    • From the Remote Management tab, do any of the following:

      • To remove the password requirement to access the Lexmark Remote Asset Manager, click Clear Password.

        Note: This feature is available only on Lexmark Remote Asset Manager.

        To enable the Clear Password feature, make sure that:

        • The data collector is connected using HTTP or HTTPS.

        • The access mode is either PASSWORD or LOCALHOST_PASSWORD.

      • To run a full collection for the fleet, click Execute Full Collection.

      • To collect diagnostic data, click Collect Diagnostic Data.

      • To download the diagnostic data after collection, click Download.

  5. Click Close.
