Loading paper in the 2000-sheet tray

Pull up and slide the width guide to the correct position for the paper size being loaded.

Unlock the length guide.

Push the length guide release latch to raise the length guide, slide the guide to the correct position for the paper size being loaded, and then lock the guide.

Loading paper in the multipurpose feeder

Note: From the home screen, set the Paper Size and Paper Type. To access the paper menus, touch menu key graphic >Paper Menu > Paper Size/Type.

Squeeze and slide the width guide to the far right.

Flex and fan the paper or specialty media, and then straighten the edges on a level surface before loading it in the tray.

Slide the paper gently into the multipurpose feeder until it comes to a stop, and then adjust the width guide to lightly touch the edge of the paper stack.

Notes:

  • Make sure the paper fits loosely in the multipurpose feeder, lies flat, and is not bent or wrinkled.
  • Do not exceed the maximum stack height by forcing paper under the stack height limiter.
  • Load only one size and type of media at a time.
  • Load envelopes with the flap side down and to the left as shown on the tray.

Warning—Potential Damage: Never use envelopes with stamps, clasps, snaps, windows, coated linings, or self-stick adhesives. These envelopes may severely damage the printer.
