Networking

A network is a group of computers or computer systems linked together for the purpose of sharing resources, such as printers, files, or an Internet connection.

If you are using Mac OS X version 10.2.3 or later, you can configure your All-In-One to be shared by other users connected to your local area network through Printer Sharing. Users connected to your local area network can use your All-In-One as a printer, but cannot use the scan and copy functions.

Note: Printer Sharing is not supported in Mac OS X version 10.1 or later.

To configure your All-In-One for Print Sharing:

  1. From the Finder window, click the Apple icon on the menu bar at the top of your screen.
  2. Click System Preferences... from the drop-down menu.
  3. From the System Preferences dialog, click the Sharing folder icon. The Sharing dialog is displayed.
  4. Select the Services tab.
  5. From the Select a service to change its settings. area, select the Printer Sharing check box.
  6. Edit the Computer Name:, Rendezvous Name:, or Network Address: as necessary.
  7. Click the red button on the upper left corner to close the Sharing dialog and apply the changes.

Your All-In-One is automatically displayed in the Printer: pop-up menu on the Print dialog and Printer List dialog of computers connected to your local area network.
