Add a remote network printer
A remote subnet is another network that is connected to your network. If your All-In-One is attached to a remote subnet instead of your network (local subnet), you must enter some information to help the software find the printer.
You can add your All-In-One to the network Printer Selection List through the Printer Selection dialog or the Network Printer Configuration dialog. Make sure that your All-In-One is already configured (assigned an IP address). Go to Assign an IP address.
To add a remote network printer from the Printer Selection dialog:
- Open the 5200 Series Utility.
- From the menu bar, choose Advanced to display the Advanced menu.
- Click Select Printer.
-
The Printer Selection dialog displays.
- Click Add Remote.
- From the Add Remote Printer dialog, you can:
- Select Add Single Printer. Enter the IP address of the remote network printer. This adds just one configured printer to the list.
- Select Search Subnet. Enter the IP address of the subnet. All the available printers on the subnet are added to the list.
- Click OK to go back to the Printer Selection dialog.
- Select your printer from the list on the Printer Selection dialog.
- Click Select.
- Continue on to Add your All-In-One to the Printer List.
