Copy Type

Select the color for your copy.

  • Color—For all color documents and images.
  • Grayscale—For black and white images.
  • Black—For text-only documents.

Copy Quality

Select the copy quality.

  • Photo—For the highest quality photos, and for documents with vibrant graphics.
  • Normal—For most text-only copy jobs. This is the default copy quality setting.
  • Quick Copy—For copying drafts or text-only documents quickly and with reduced quality.

Descreen

Remove wavy patterns from magazines or newspapers. Many types of printed media are created using a screen printing process. Screen printing results in documents that are made up of many small dots that, when viewed from a distance, form the contents of the document. This screen printing pattern of dots is often exaggerated by scanning. The result is typically noticeable as a geometric pattern appearing in what should be solid colors. Descreening helps remove the screen printing pattern of dots. Choose from Photo, Text, Art Print, Magazine, Newspaper, or None.

Adjustments tab

Brightness

Adjust the lightness or darkness of your scan.

Contrast

Adjust the detailing and tone of the image as it is set off against a light or dark background. Increasing contrast makes light colors lighter and dark colors darker. Decreasing contrast flattens the light and dark colors to create a flushed image.

Gamma

Increase or decrease the color correction curve. Enabling gamma lets you adjust the amount of ink placed on the page. Decreasing the gamma causes more ink to be placed on the page and darkens your printed document. Increasing gamma causes less ink to be placed on the page and lightens your printed document.

Blur/Sharpen

Adjust the level of sharpness of the scanned image.

Fine Tune Rotation

Tilt your image 10 degrees to the left or right.

Invert Colors

Reverse the colors of your image by inverting the RGB data. The effect created is similar to that of a film negative.

Mirror

Produce a mirror image of your document.

Orientation

Change the position of your image in the preview area. Shift between portrait or landscape orientation.

Defaults

Reset the Adjustment controls to the factory default settings.

Finishing tab

Zoom

Enlarge or reduce your image. Choose a preset value or enter a scale percentage for your image.

  • Select Poster to print a single image on several sheets of paper. Selecting Poster enables the Print crop marks option that lets you print crop marks on your copy to aid in trimming.
  • Select Clone to print multiple copies of an image on one page. Selecting Clone enables the Print page borders option that lets you print borders on your copies.
