Fax troubleshooting

Fax feature does not respond

Does an error message appear when you try to send a fax?

Follow the instructions on the error message dialog.

For help, see Prepare to send a fax.

Faxing is not successful

Did you select the correct setting from the What is being scanned? area.

Select Mixed Graphics and Text, Magazine or Newspaper, or Black Text.

The fax function is disabled if you select Photo from the What is being scanned? area.

Did you choose the correct application from the Send scanned images to: pop-up menu?

Make sure you chose a fax application from the Application list on the Send scanned images to: pop-up menu. If your fax application is not on the Application list, see Application List Setup.

Fax software is not found

Did you install a fax software?

Install a fax software. Refer to your fax application documentation for help.

OCR is not working properly

Is the OCR software installed properly?

The OCR functionality of your All-In-One is provided by ABBY FineReader 5 Sprint software located in the Lexmark Extras folder that came with your All-In-One software CD.

Is the application where you want to send the scanned document included in the Application List?

The application where you want to send scanned document must be added to the Application List on the Send the scanned images to: pop-up menu.

Follow the steps in Application List Setup.

The All-In-One is not communicating with the computer

Is the power supply pushed all the way into the printer?

Disconnect the power supply from your All-In-One. Reconnect the power supply by pushing it all the way into the connector. For more information, see Check the cable connections.

Is the USB cable securely connected to your All-In-One and computer?

Check the cable connections.
