Converting scanned items to text

Optical Character Recognition (OCR)

Using the OCR software feature, you can turn scanned images into editable text within a word processing application. Make sure your OCR software is installed. For more information, see Installing the All-In-One add-on software.

1. Load an original document on the scanner glass.
2. Open the Lexmark 4300 Series Center.
3. Select the Scan tab.
4. From the "How will the scanned image be used?" pop-up menu, choose To be edited (OCR).

   Note:

   The OCR function is not available if Photo is selected from the "What is being scanned?" menu.

5. Click Scan.

The scanned image is converted into editable text. Open the scanned image from the OCR application for previewing and editing.
