Converting scanned items to text

Using the OCR (optical character recognition) software feature, you can turn scanned images into editable text within a word processing application.

Note: This function will work only if you have installed the ABBYY FineReader 5 Sprint X.
  1. Load the document on the scanner glass.
  2. Open the Lexmark 3300 Series Center. The Lexmark 3300 Series Center Main Page appears.
  3. From the "Device" pop-up menu, select Lexmark 3300 Series.
  4. On the Scan tab, open the "How will the scanned image be used?" pop-up menu.
  5. Choose To be edited (OCR).
    Note: The OCR function is not available if Photo is selected from the "What is being scanned?" menu.
  6. Click Scan.
The scanned image is converted to editable text. Open the scanned image from the OCR (optical character recognition) application for previewing and editing.
