Clean the print cartridge nozzles

Clean the print cartridge nozzles when:

• Characters are not printing completely.
• White dashes appear in graphics or printed text.
• Print is smudged or too dark.
• Colors on the print job are faded or they differ from the colors on the screen.
• Vertical, straight lines are not smooth.

Clean the nozzles from the Lexmark 6200 Series Utility

1. Load plain paper.
2. Open the Lexmark 6200 Series Utility.
3. From the Cartridges tab, click Clean Print Nozzles. A nozzle page prints, forcing ink through the nozzles to clean any that are clogged.
4. Print your document again to verify if your print quality has improved.
5. To further improve print quality, try wiping the nozzles and contacts (go to Wipe the print cartridge nozzles and contacts), and then print your document again.
6. If print quality has not improved, try cleaning the nozzles up to two more times.

Clean the nozzles from the control panel on the All-In-One

1. Load plain paper.
2. Follow the steps in Maintenance—from the control panel.
