Use the Apple fax application

In Mac OS X v10.3 Panther, you can send and receive faxes with your All-In-One using the fax application provided by Apple.

To send a fax:

  1. Get your All-In-One ready to fax.
  2. Scan your document or open a previously saved document.
  3. With your document open, choose File  Print.... The Print dialog appears.
  4. Click Fax....
  5. Enter the following:
    • The fax number in the To: field
    • Subject of your fax
    • Dialing prefix, if necessary
  6. Choose a modem.
  7. Select Cover page to write a cover letter for your fax.
  8. Click Fax.

To receive a fax:

Using the Apple fax application, you can set up your All-In-One so that all incoming faxes are printed automatically.

  1. Open System Preferences.
  2. From Hardware, click Print & Fax.
  3. Select Faxing.
  4. Select the Receive faxes on this computer checkbox.
  5. Enter your fax number in the My Fax Number field, and specify your preferred number of rings.
  6. Select the Print on printer checkbox. From the pop-up menu, choose Lexmark 6200 Series.

To check the status of your fax:

Choose Go  Applications  Utilities  Printer Setup Utility to display the Printer List dialog, or click the modem's icon in the Dock, if available. The Status column shows whether the document is faxing, on hold, or stopped.
