Scanning photos

  1. Load an original document on the scanner glass.
  2. Open the Lexmark 4300 Series Center.
  3. Select the Scan tab.
    1. From the "What is being scanned?" menu, select Photo.
    2. From the "How will the scanned image be used?" pop-up menu, choose To be printed or To be viewed on monitor/Web page.
    3. From the "Send scanned image to" pop-up menu, choose a destination folder or application for your scanned photo.
    4. Select Prompt for multiple pages if you have several photos to scan.
    5. Continue to step 4 to view the scanned image and fine-tune settings or click Scan to begin scanning.
  4. Click Preview/Edit to open the Scan dialog.
  5. From the Settings tab:
    1. Select a preset scan setting. Your options for photos are Color Photo - Print, Color Photo - Web, and Black & White Photo; or you can select Custom Settings, and manually adjust the color depth and resolution.
    2. From the "Descreen Magazine or Newspaper" pop-up menu, choose Photo.
      Note: Do not use the Descreen function if you are scanning a photo developed in a photo lab.
    3. Reduce background noise, if needed. Select Reduce Background Noise, and move the slider to adjust the level of noise reduction.
      Note: The noise reduction option is only enabled when copying or scanning color documents.
  6. From the Adjustments tab, customize the settings, as needed.
  7. Crop photos, if needed. For more information see Cropping photos using Auto-crop and Cropping photos manually.
  8. Click Scan.

The scanned photos are sent to your selected destination folder or photo application for saving or editing.
