Aligning the print cartridges

Typically, you align print cartridges only after installing or replacing a cartridge. However, you may also need to align cartridges when:

• Characters are improperly formed or are misaligned at the left margin.
• Vertical, straight lines are wavy.

Aligning the print cartridges from the control panel

The auto-alignment feature lets you align the print cartridges using the control panel on the All-In-One.

1. Load plain paper.
2. Open the scanner unit to access the print cartridges.
3. Install the print cartridges.
4. Close the scanner unit.
5. Press to print an alignment page.

   Note:

   The All-In-One detects whether you loaded plain paper. If you did not load plain paper, Load PLAIN PAPER for alignment, then press appears.

The All-In-One prints an alignment page. While the alignment page prints, the auto alignment feature analyzes the page for the best alignment values.

6. Once auto alignment is successful, the message Automatic Alignment Complete appears on the display. This message flashes on the screen once, and then the display returns to the default setting.

Aligning the print cartridges from the Lexmark 3300 Series Utility

1. Load plain paper.
2. Open the Lexmark 3300 Series Utility.
3. From the Cartridges tab, click Align Cartridges.
4. Click Continue to print the alignment page.
5. On the Alignment Status dialog, click OK if the automatic alignment is successful.

   Note:

   If the automatic alignment is not successful, clicking OK returns you to the Lexmark 3300 Series Utility Main Window.
