Are you using the scan or copy features?

Poor text and graphic quality

including:

  • Blank pages
  • Incorrect colors
  • Missing characters
  • Faded print
  • Dark print
  • Skewed lines
  • Smudges
  • Streaks
  • Unexpected characters
  • White lines in print

Are you using the correct color setting?

Try using a different color setting. For more information, see Adjusting color settings.

Did the ink completely dry on the print media before you removed it from the exit tray?

Allow the ink some time to dry completely before handling the paper.

Is the paper wrinkled?

Use a new piece of paper that is straight and unwrinkled.

Are the All-In-One settings adjusted to the correct media type and size?

Choose a media type in the Print dialog, and choose a paper size in the Page Setup dialog. For more information, see Choosing a media type and Choosing a paper size.

Are the All-In-One settings adjusted to the appropriate quality for the paper type?

Select a print quality that is appropriate for the paper type. You can select Photo to get the best print quality. For more information, see Selecting a print quality

Are the print cartridges aligned properly?

See Aligning the print cartridges.

Have the print cartridges been properly maintained?

See Improving print quality.

Have any of the print cartridges run out of ink?

Replace the print cartridge with a new cartridge. For more information, see Removing the print cartridges and Installing the print cartridges.

Have you tried changing the paper brand?

Use a different paper brand. Each paper brand accepts ink differently and prints with color variations.

Poor print quality at the edges of the page

If you are not using the borderless feature of the printer, are you printing beyond the minimum print margins for the All-In-One?

Use these minimum settings:

  • Left and right margins:
- 6.35 mm (0.25 inches) for all paper sizes except A4
- 3.175 mm (0.125 inches) for A4 size paper
  • Top margin:
-1.7 mm (0.067 inches)
  • Bottom margin:
-12.7 mm (0.5 inches) for black print jobs
-19 mm (0.75 inches) for color print jobs

Are the print nozzles clogged?

See Cleaning the print cartridge nozzles.

All-In-One does not print or respond

Do you see an error message?

See Error messages and flashing lights troubleshooting.

Is the All-In-One installed properly on the computer?

If you are not sure, uninstall the All-In-One software and reinstall it. For more information, see Removing the All-In-One software and Installing the All-In-One software.

Has the document been held or paused?

Making sure that the printer is not put on hold or paused.

Is the All-In-One set as the default printer?

Making sure that the printer is set as the current printer.

Slow print speed

Are there other applications running on the computer?

Close all applications not in use.

Did you select Photo as the print quality?

Select a print quality other than Photo. You can increase print speed when you set the print quality to Quick Print or Normal. For more information, see Selecting a print quality

Note: Photos or documents containing graphics may take longer to print than regular text.

Does the computer meet the minimum memory requirements for the All-In-One?

Consider purchasing more Random Access Memory (RAM) for the computer.

Page prints with different fonts

Did you apply fonts correctly in the application?

Avoid stretching or resizing fonts in the application.

Are you using a TrueType font?

Use a TrueType font. See your application documentation for help.

Is the font available in the application box?

See your application documentation for help.

Cannot print from a digital camera

Is the digital camera PictBridge compatible?

Remove the device and connect a PictBridge-enabled digital camera to the PictBridge port of the All-In-One.

See your digital camera documentation to determine whether the camera is PictBridge compatible.

Is the PictBridge-enabled digital camera set to the correct USB mode?

See your digital camera documentation for help in selecting the correct USB mode.

Are you using the USB cable that came with the digital camera?

You must use the USB cable that came with the digital camera.

See your digital camera documentation to determine which type of USB cable it supports.
