Enhancing photo print quality when scanning

  1. Open the Lexmark 4300 Series Center.
  2. Select the Scan tab.
    1. From the "What is being scanned?" menu, select Photo.
    2. From the "How will the scanned image be used?" pop-up menu, choose To be printed or To be viewed on monitor/Web page. Photo scanning is optimized based on this selection.
  3. Click Preview/Edit to go to the Scan dialog to fine-tune scan settings.
    1. From the Settings tab:
      • Select one of the preset scan settings appropriate for the photo: Color Photo - Print, Color Photo - Web, or Black and White Photo.
      • Create your custom setting by adjusting the color depth and resolution, and then choosing a descreen option.
      • Reduce background noise, if needed. Select Reduce Background Noise, and move the slider to adjust the level of noise reduction.
      • Note: The noise reduction option is only enabled when copying or scanning color documents.
    2. From the Adjustments tab:
      • Adjust the brightness.
      • Adjust the contrast.
      • Adjust the gamma (color correction curve).
      • Sharpen the image.
