Setup troubleshooting

Solution:

The Power light is not lit

Is the power supply pushed all the way into the printer?

Disconnect the power supply from the printer. Reconnect the power supply by pushing it all the way into the connector on the printer. For more information, see Check the cable connection.

Is the printer connected to a working electrical outlet?

Connect the printer to an electrical outlet that other electrical devices have been using. For more information, see Check the cable connection.

Did you press the power button?

Press the power button to turn on the printer.

Software will not install

Does the CD icon appear on your desktop after inserting the CD?

If nothing happens, follow these steps:

  1. Close all open software applications.
  2. Remove the printer software CD from the CD-ROM drive.
  3. Restart your computer.
  4. When your desktop appears, reinsert the printer software CD. The Lexmark 810 Series CD icon is created on your desktop.
  5. Install the printer software.

Is your operating system compatible with the printer?

The printer supports these operating systems:

  • Mac OS X version 10.1.5
  • Mac OS X version 10.2.x
  • Mac OS X version 10.3.x

Alignment page or test page will not print

Is the printer on?

Press the power button . If the Power light does not come on, see The Power light is not lit.

Do you see an error message?

See Error messages and blinking lights troubleshooting.

Is your printer connected to your computer through another device, such as a USB hub or switch box?

Disconnect the USB cable from any other devices and directly connect it between the printer and your computer.

Did you remove the transparent tape from the bottom of each print cartridge?

Remove the print cartridges, check for the transparent tape and then reinsert them. For help, see Install the print cartridge.

Are the print cartridges installed properly?

Make sure that the black or photo cartridge is in the left carrier and the color cartridge is in the right carrier. For help, see Check the print cartridges.

Is the paper loaded correctly?

See Load and stack paper.

Printer ejects a blank page after appearing to print

Did you remove the transparent tape from the bottom of each print cartridge?

Remove the print cartridge, check for the transparent tape and then reinsert them. For help, see Install the print cartridge.

Does your cartridge have clogged nozzles?

  1. Clean the print cartridge nozzles.
  2. Print another page.
