Symptom

Poor text and graphic quality, including:

  • Blank pages
  • Incorrect colors
  • Missing characters
  • Faded print
  • Dark print
  • Skewed lines
  • Smudges
  • Streaks
  • Unexpected characters
  • White lines in print

 

 

 

The scanning or copying settings are incorrect.

The color setting is incorrect.

Try using a different color setting in the program.

The ink is still wet on the print media.

Allow the ink time to dry completely before handling the paper.

The paper is wrinkled.

Use a new piece of paper that is straight and unwrinkled.

The settings are incorrect for the paper type and size.

Select the correct paper type and size in Print Preferences, Print Properties, or from the All-In-One software.

The quality is incorrect for the paper type.

Select the highest appropriate quality for the paper type in Print Preferences, Print Properties, or from the All-In-One software.

The alignment for the print cartridges is incorrect.

Print cartridges have not been properly maintained.

The All-In-One is out of ink.

Replace the print cartridge with a new cartridge. For more information, see Replacing the print cartridges.

Poor quality at the edges of the page

 

The printing mode for the type or size of paper in use is incorrect.

Note:  If you want to print to the edge of the paper, use the Borderless option in Print Properties.

Otherwise, do not print beyond the minimum print margins for the size of paper in the All-In-One.

 

The maximum width the All-In-One can print is 8.5 inches (215.9 mm) plus an additional 4mm on all edges to allow printing to extend beyond the edge of the paper.

When printing in normal mode, use these minimum settings:

  • Left and right margins: 6.35 mm (0.25 inches) for all paper sizes except A4. 3.37 mm (0.125 inches) for A4 size paper.
  • Top margin:1.7 mm (0.067 inches)
  • Bottom margin: 12.7 mm (0.5 inches)

The original document is larger than the paper you are using for copies.

On the control panel, press the Arrow button until Resize appears.

Press the button to select a reduced value.

All-In-One does not print or respond

An error message indicates the symptom.

The All-In-One is not installed properly on the computer.

  • Check all cables.
  • Press Power to turn the All-In-One off, then press it again to turn the All-In-One back on.
  • Turn computer off, wait a few seconds and turn it back on.
  • Uninstall the All-In-One software and reinstall it.

The document has been held or paused.

The All-In-One is not set as the default printer.

For more information, see Checking the All-In-One status.

Slow print speed

Other programs are running on the computer.

Close all programs not in use.

The highest print quality resolution can slow the printing speed.

Reduce the print quality resolution.

Quick and Normal qualities print more quickly than Photo quality.

Note:  Photos or documents containing graphics may take longer to print than text.

The computer may not meet the minimum memory requirements for the All-In-One.

Consider purchasing more Random Access Memory (RAM) for the computer.

 

The automatic paper type sensor may have sensed the wrong media type.

Cannot print from a digital camera

Is the digital camera PictBridge compatible?

Remove the device and use a PictBridge-enabled digital camera in the PictBridge port.

Refer to your digital camera documentation to determine if it is PictBridge compatible.

Is the PictBridge-enabled digital camera set to the correct USB mode?

Refer to your digital camera documentation for help selecting the correct USB mode.

Are you using the USB cable that came with your digital camera?

You must use the USB cable that came with your digital camera.

Refer to you digital camera documentation to determine which type of USB cable it supports.

Checking the All-In-One status

Check the All-In-One status to make sure the document is not being held or paused and that the All-In-One is set as the default printer. To check the status:

  1. Click Start  Control Panel  Printers and Other Hardware  Printers and Faxes.

Or, click Start   Settings   Printers and Faxes or Printers .

  1. Double-click the Lexmark 3300 Series icon.
  2. Click Printer and make sure there is no check mark next to Pause Printing.
  3. Make sure there is a check mark next to Set As Default.
