Crop photos using Auto-crop

Crop your photos to highlight certain focal points or to show only a specific portion of an image. Both the Scan and Copy dialogs have the cropping function.

  1. Load paper in the paper support.
  2. Load original documents on the scanner glass.
  3. Open the Lexmark 6200 Series Center.
  4. From either the Scan tab or the Copy tab, click Preview... to open the Scan dialog or the Copy dialog.
Note: Auto-crop in the Scan dialog is turned on when Photo is selected from the What is being scanned? menu in the Scan tab. Auto-crop in the Copy dialog is turned on when Auto is chosen from the Original Paper Size: pop-up menu in the Copy tab.
  5. When Auto-crop is selected, the entire image in the preview area is bordered by a rectangular dashed line that defines the crop area.
    • You can use the Auto-crop Sensitivity slider to adjust the crop area. The software determines the crop area based on the relative brightness or darkness of the image.
    • With your mouse, move or drag the corner and side handles of the cropping bounds to extend or contract the crop area.
    • When your cursor is in the object mode (represented by a hand), click and drag with your mouse to move the crop area and select the part of the photo that you want scanned or copied.
    • Note: The file size, width, and height of the crop area are displayed at the bottom of the preview area. Choose a preferred unit of measurement from the pop-up menu.
  6. Click Preview Again to refresh the image on the preview area.
Note: Not all changes and adjustments in the settings are reflected in the preview image when the Preview Again button is clicked.
  7. When you are satisfied with the cropped image, click Scan or Copy.

By clicking Scan, only the designated cropped area is saved or sent to your application. By clicking Copy, only the designated cropped area is printed.

For manual cropping, go to Crop photos manually.
