Scanner or copier is not responding

Is the All-In-One on?

Press the Power button. Go to The Power light is not lit.

Do you see an error message?

Go to Error messages and flashing lights.

Is the All-In-One installed properly on your computer?

If you are not sure, uninstall the All-In-One software and then re-install it. Go to Remove the All-In-One software and Install the All-In-One software.

The All-In-One is scanning and copying without a pre-scan

Is the scanner auto-detecting the size of the original document?

Go to the Copy tab of the Lexmark 6200 Series. From the Original Paper Size pop-up menu, select the paper size of the document you want to copy. Portrait orientation is the default for all paper types in the Original Paper Size menu.

Print quality is poor at the edges of the page

Are you printing beyond the minimum print margins for the All-In-One?

Use these minimum margin settings:

  • Left and right margins:
- 6.35 mm (0.25 inches) for US Letter, US Legal, and Kakugata 3 Envelope
- 3.175 mm (0.125 inches) for all other paper sizes
  • Top margin:
- 1.7 mm (0.067 inches)
  • Bottom margin:
- 12.7 mm (0.5 inches)

Is the original document larger than the paper you are using for copies?

Poor quality from scan or copy feature.

Including:

  • Blank page
  • Checkerboard pattern
  • Distorted graphics or pictures
  • Pictures or images are incomplete
  • Missing characters
  • Unexpected characters
  • Faded print
  • Dark print
  • Skewed lines
  • Smudges
  • Streaks
  • White lines in print

Have you changed the settings in Adjustments in the Copy or Scan tabs?

Return the Adjustment settings to default, or adjust the brightness and contrast options according to your preference.

Is the original document or image placed properly on the scanner glass?

The document must be placed face down on the glass. Go to Load original documents on the scanner glass.

Is the copy setting in the Lexmark All-In-One Center set correctly?

Go to Adjust color settings when printing.

Are you copying or scanning a magazine or newspaper?

Go to Descreen.

Do you see an error message?

Go to Error messages and flashing lights.

Is the scanner glass dirty?

Cleaning the scanner glass.

Is the quality of the original document or image unsatisfactory?

Try using another version of the document or image.

Is Auto-crop on?

Go to Crop photos using Auto-crop.

Are the print cartridges aligned properly?

Go to Align the print cartridges.

Have the print cartridges been properly maintained?

Go to Improve print quality.

Is the All-In-One out of ink?

Replace the print cartridges. Go to Remove a used cartridge and Install the print cartridges.
