All-In-One is not responding

Is the All-In-One on?

Press the Power/Resume button. If the Power light does not come on, see Power light is not lit.

Do you see an error message?

See Error messages and blinking lights.

Is the All-In-One software installed properly on your computer?

Remove the All-In-One software and then re-install it. Go to Remove the All-In-One software and Install the All-In-One software.

The scanner unit does not close

Is a paper jammed in your All-In-One?

Make sure you remove any paper jams before you close your All-In-One. For help, go to Jams and misfeeds troubleshooting.

Are you closing the scanner unit properly?

  1. Lift the scanner unit while pushing the scanner support back.
  2. Carefully lower the scanner until it is completely closed.

Poor quality at the edges of the page

Are you printing beyond the minimum print margins for the printer?

Make sure your margins are set within the following minimum margin settings:

  • Left and right:
- 6.35 mm (0.25 in.) for all paper sizes except A4
- 3.175 mm (0.125 in.) for A4 size paper
  • Top margin:
-1.7 mm (0.067 inches)
  • Bottom margin:
-12. 7mm (0.5 inches) for black print jobs
-19 mm (0.75 inches) for color print jobs

Is the original larger than the paper you are using for copies?

Reduce the size of your original.

From the Zoom area of the Copy tab:

  • Choose a preset size from the pop-up menu.
  • Type a percentage value on the number field, or increment the percentage value by using the up and down arrows.

You can also adjust the zoom settings in the Finishing tab of the Copy dialog.

Poor copy quality. Including:

  • Blank page
  • Checkerboard pattern
  • Distorted graphics or pictures
  • Pictures or images are incomplete
  • Missing characters
  • Unexpected characters
  • Faded print
  • Dark print
  • Skewed lines
  • Smudges
  • Streaks
  • White lines in print

Have you changed the settings in Adjustments in the Copy tab?

Is the original document or image placed properly on the scanner glass?

See Load originals on the scanner glass.

Is the copy setting in the Lexmark All-In-One Center set correctly?

Go to Adjust color settings.

Are you copying magazine or newspaper?

Use the Descreen function on the Copy dialog.

Do you see an error message?

See Error messages and blinking lights.

Is the scanner glass dirty?

See Cleaning the scanner glass.

Is the quality of the original document or image unsatisfactory?

Try using another version of the document or image.

Is Auto-crop on?

See Crop photos.

Are the print cartridges aligned properly?

Go to Align the print cartridges.

Have the print cartridges been properly maintained?

See Maintaining your print cartridges and Improve print quality.

Is the All-In-One out of ink?

Replace the print cartridges.

Is the original from a printed source?

Choose a descreen option that is appropriate for your original.

Is your document or image too light or dark?

Adjust brightness from the Adjustment tab of the copy dialog.

  1. From the Copy dialog, select the Adjustments tab.
  2. Move the Brightness: slider to adjust brightness of your image or document.

Are you copying in black and white?

Try to copy in grayscale.

  1. From the Lexmark 2200 Series Center, select the Copy tab.
  2. From the Copy Type: pop-up menu, choose Grayscale.
  3. From the Copy Quality: area, select Better or Best.

All-In-One is not found or does not communicate with the computer

Is the power supply pushed all the way into the printer?

Disconnect the power supply from your All-In-One. Reconnect the power supply by pushing it all the way into the connector. For more information, see Check the cable connections.

Is your All-In-One connected to a working electrical outlet?

Connect your All-In-One to an electrical outlet that other electrical devices have been using. For more information, see Check the cable connections.

Is the USB cable securely connected to your All-In-One and computer?

Check the cable connections.

Scanner works but I cannot copy

Is the Power light blinking?

See Error messages and blinking lights

Edges of copied documents are cut

Is the original document or image placed properly on the scanner glass?

Is the original larger than the printable area of the page?

Reduce the size of your original.

From the Zoom area of the Copy tab:

  • Choose a preset size from the pop-up menu.
  • Type a percentage value on the number field, or increment the percentage value by using the up and down arrows.

You can also adjust the zoom settings in the Finishing tab of the Copy dialog.

Did you choose the correct paper size of your original?

You need to specify the correct size of your original from the Original Paper Size: pop-up menu on the Copy tab. Your All-In-One adjusts the copy settings accordingly. Choose Auto if you are unsure of the size of your original.

  1. Open the Lexmark 2200 Series Center.
  2. Select the Copy tab.
  3. From the Original Paper Size: pop-up menu, choose the paper size of your original.
  • Choose Auto if you are copying an image with a landscape orientation. Choosing any of the preset paper sizes automatically sets the copy area orientation to portrait. Choosing Auto activates the auto-crop function in the Copy dialog.
